New This Year - Century Farm Video Competition

Ever wanted to be a filmmaker, script writer, videographer, or all of these? Here’s your chance to tell a story on film and possibly win a cash prize. Your work will also contribute to the recorded history of Williamson County, and you and others, because of your research and video, will learn about the vital importance of farmers and farms to our county and state.

The Williamson County Fair (WCF) is sponsoring a new competition. $1000.00 in cash and other prizes will be awarded to the best entries that tell the story of a Williamson County Century Farm. This contest is open to Williamson County residents who will be in the 9th to 12th grade in the school year 2017-1018, and to 2017 high school graduates. Individuals or teams of up to three students may submit videos. Students who are members of a Century Farm family are also encouraged to enter.

Awards are: 1st Place - $500.00; 2nd Place - $250.00; 3rd Place- $150.00; and Honorable Mention - $100.00. If a team is involved, the prize will be distributed equally to the team members. The contest deadline is July 15, 2017.

What is a Century Farm? These are farms, located throughout the county, that have been owned and farmed by the same family for at least 100 years, some for 150 or 200 or more years. Each of the farms and each generation is a great source for stories.

How do I start?

Read the guidelines and follow them to enter this contest.

Thank you for your interest. Most great film directors start with “shorts”, so here’s your opportunity to be on the Williamson County Fair’s “Red Carpet” for your award.
