Required pick-up date: Sunday, Aug. 15 11:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Best of Show Award: $25.00 and ribbon. All classes, except class #21, are eligible.
The Quilting Squares Award: $25.00 gift certificate/ribbon offered for Best Workmanship – pieced.
$25.00 gift certificate/ribbon for Best Workmanship – quilting.
$25.00 gift certificate/ribbon for Best Workmanship – applique.
Any size quilts are eligible for these awards.
RULES & REGULATIONS
- Competition is open to all residents of Williamson County or persons who are active members of a Williamson County club related to quilts (E.g. FCE, Garden Clubs, and Community Clubs).
- All exhibits must have an entry form which is found in catalog when entering their quilt. A duplicate copy should be kept by the exhibitor.
- All articles for exhibits in this section must be the handiwork of the exhibitor(s). It can be hand or machine made. All articles must have been completed after 2004. No article will be accepted if it has been preiously entered in a Williamson County Fair. Exhibitor can enter only one quilt per class.
- Exhibitors, whether considered professional or amateur, are allowed to enter any of the classes.
- Quilts stitched by one person can be entered in all classes except Group Quilts.
- Group quilts are considered stitched by two or more persons.
- Articles must be in good condition and clean; soiled, stained or damaged quilts will not be accepted.
- A 4 inch sleeve on the back of the quilt is required so that it can be hung. Those without a sleeve will be ineligible and will not be exhibited.
- Exhibitors must have a label containing their name, address and phone number attached to quilt, but must be covered by fabric or tape.
- Best of Show will be a single entry selected by the judge as being superior in general acceptance, design, and workmanship. All quilts entered in the fair, except for class #21, are eligible for Best of Show.
- Quilts will be judged based on the following criteria: general appearance, design, and workmanship.
- Judges reserve the right to withhold ribbons if entries are insufficient or are not of award caliber. Judges’ decisions are final.
QUILT CLASSES
Bed Quilts – width 60” or greater, length 72” or greater (classes 1-9)
- Bed quilt hand appliqué-predominant technique is appliqué done by hand
- Bed quilt machine appliqué-predominant technique is applique done by machine
- Bed quilt pieced-technique is pieced by hand or machine, hand quilted
- Bed quilt pieced-technique is pieced by machine, machine quilted
- Bed quilt mixed techniques-hand-two or more predominant techniques, not including quilting (i.e. piecing/appliqué; appliqué/embroidery; piecing/trapunto)
- Bed quilt mixed techniques-machine- two or more predominant techniques, not including quilting (i.e. piecing/appliqué; appliqué/embroidery; piecing/trapunto)
- Bed quilt-group applique quilt-predominant technique is appliqué, either by hand or machine. Quilt is made by two or more people.
- Bed quilt-group pieced quilt-predominant technique is pieced and quilted by hand or machine. Quilt is made by two or more people.
- Miscellaneous bed quilt-not listed in above categories.
Large Wall Quilts – size is between 40” to 60” width, no limit on length (classes 10-14)
- Large wall quilts-hand appliqué-predominant technique is appliqué done by hand
- Large wall quilts-machine applique-predominant technique is applique done by machine
- Large wall quilts-pieced-technique is pieced by hand or machine, quilted by hand
- Large wall quilts-pieced-technique is pieced by hand or machine, quilted by machine
- Large wall quilts-group-any technique made by two or more people
Small wall quilts – size is 40”or less in width, no limit on length (classes 15-19)
- Small wall quilts- hand appliqué-predominant technique is appliqué done by hand
- Small wall quilts- machine applique-predominant technique is applique done by machine
- Small wall quilts- pieced-technique is pieced by hand or machine, quilted by hand
- Small wall quilts-pieced-technique is pieced by hand or machine, quilted by machine
- Small wall quilts- group-any technique made by two or more people
- Miscellaneous wall quilt-any size, either large or small wall quilt that is not listed above categories.
Non-judged quilts
- Any size of quilt may be exhibited, and not judged at the fair.
