RULES & REGULATIONS

  1. Competition is open to Tennessee residents.
  2. Entry is to be made on official Wool and Woolies entry form, which is available at http://williamson.tennessee.edu. or you may pick up a form at the 4-H office. Pre-entry required: Mail to Alice Darnell, Williamson Co. Extension, 4215 Long Lane, Suite 200, Franklin, TN 37064 or Fax to 615-790-5606. Deadline is July 23, 2010. Name and age must be turned in by July 23; the remainder of the form may be brought to the competition.
  3. Entrants must lead a registered ewe or a market lamb which has been conditioned, fitted and trained to show at halter. Sheep does not have to be owned by entrant. Sheep will be provided for anyone who wishes to participate.
  4. Entrant must wear a garment made of wool or a wool blend. Garment does not have to be constructed by entrant.
  5. Age is age as of day of contest.
  6. Pairs Competition: Little contestants under 6 years of age on day of contest must have a partner (older sibling, friend, parent, etc.) to help control sheep. Partner should be dressed to coordinate with contestant, but only contestant will model. Ribbons & premium will go to the contestant.
  7. Scoring Standards: The following standards will be used when judging the classes:
    1. Entrant’s garment (suitable & practical for entrant’s maturity) – 40%
    2. Poise & appearance (accessories, make-up, etc) appropriate for entrants maturity & style of garment: entrant appears to be at ease and wears garment to best advantage.) –30%
    3. Control and presentation of sheep – 30%

WOOL AND WOLLIES CLASSES

  1. Pairs Competition (age 6 and under)
  2. Primary Contestants, Ages 7-10
  3. Junior Contestants, Ages 11-13
  4. Intermediate and Senior Contestants, Ages 14 and up
